1.5 Sampling Demonstration

  1. Distinguish between simple random sampling and stratified sampling.
  2. Describe how often random and stratified sampling give exactly the same result.

Review of Sampling

Instructions

The population is shown at the top of the image. You can see the 60 lions, 30 turtles and 10 rabbits. After a sample, the animals that were sampled appear with a blue background. Altogether there will be 10 animals with blue background. The number of each species is tallied and shown at the bottom in the row next to the species in question. The demonstration contains 5 random samples. It also contains two stratified samples.
